"recipe": "Original Recipe:<br />Bac’n Flavored Split Pea Soup<br /><br />1½ cups Soup Starter mix<br />5 cups water<br /><br />In a medium saucepan, stir soup starter<br />mix into water. Over low heat, bring to a<br />simmer with frequent stirring. Simmer on<br />low for 45-50 minutes, stirring often.<br />Remove from heat, cover and let stand for<br />5 minutes before serving.<br />Makes about 4 servings.<br />Options: For a creamier version, stir in 1/2<br />cup of cream before serving. <br /><br /><br />Alternate Recipe:<br />Slow Cooker Indian Split Pea, Cauliflower and Kale Soup<br /><br />16 oz Bac'n Flavored Split Pea Soup Starter (about 2 cups)<br />2 carrots, diced<br />1 lb cauliflower, chopped<br />1 cup kale, chopped<br />1-2 Tbsp curry powder<br />6 cups boiling water<br /><br />In the bowl of a slow cooker, combine soup starter, carrots, cauliflower, kale, curry powder and boiling water. Mix well. Cover and cook on high setting for 2 hours, then change to low setting and cook for 3 hours or until peas are tender. Optional: serve with grilled flatbread.",
