"recipe": "Basic Recipe<br /><br />1 lb ground beef, pork, or turkey<br />7½ cups water (for a richer soup,<br />substitute 1 cup of whole milk)<br />2 cups Soup Starter mix<br /><br />In a large saucepan, brown the meat<br />until cooked thoroughly. Drain. Add hot<br />water and bring to a boil. Pour soup<br />starter mix into saucepan while stirring<br />vigorously. Return to a boil, reduce heat,<br />and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove<br />from heat. Cover and allow to steam for<br />5 minutes.<br />Makes about 6 servings<br /><br /><br />Alternate Recipe<br />Cheeseburger Scalloped Potatoes<br /><br />1/2 lb ground beef<br />3 cups whole milk<br />1 1/2 cups soup starter mix<br />1/2 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese<br />3 lbs red potatoes<br />Salt and pepper to taste<br />Optional: 1 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced<br /><br />Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13\"x9\" baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Brown ground beef in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Drain. Add milk. Add soup starter mix while whisking vigorously. Bring to a light boil over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Once mixture begins to boil, remove from heat and stir in cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover pan with lid and set aside. <br /><br />Peel potatoes and cut into 1/6\" slices. Spread half of the potatoes into an even layer in baking dish, ensuring slices do not overlap. Pour half of the sauce mixture evenly over potato slices. Layer remaining potatoes over top of potatoes and sauce in the baking dish. Pour remaining sauce evenly over the newly layered potatoes. Bake in preheated oven until potatoes are fork-tender, about 55-70 minutes. Garnish with parsley, if desired.",
